2. Product Description

Cycloxan 1000mg Injection contains Cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent of the oxazaphosphorine group.
It works by attaching an alkyl group to DNA, causing cross-linking and preventing cancer cell replication. This ultimately leads to apoptosis (cell death).

It is widely used in oncology and also as an immunosuppressant in autoimmune diseases and transplant settings.

Common:

• Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite

• Hair loss (alopecia)

• Fatigue, weakness

• Bone marrow suppression (low WBC, RBC, platelets)

• Mouth sores (mucositis)

Serious / Severe:

• Hemorrhagic cystitis (bladder irritation due to toxic metabolites)

• Severe infections due to neutropenia

• Secondary malignancies (e.g., bladder cancer, leukemia with long-term use)

• Cardiotoxicity (especially with high doses)

• Liver toxicity (jaundice, elevated enzymes)

6. Precautions

• Blood Monitoring: Regular CBC to monitor for myelosuppression.

• Hydration & Mesna Use: Adequate hydration and use of Mesna recommended to prevent hemorrhagic cystitis.

• Liver & Kidney Function: Dose adjustment may be needed in impairment.

• Infection Risk: Avoid contact with infectious individuals.

• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Contraindicated teratogenic.

• Drug Interactions:

  • Other myelosuppressive agents additive toxicity.

  • CYP450 inducers/inhibitors affect cyclophosphamide metabolism.

• Fertility Concerns: May cause infertility in men & women.

• Driving / Machinery: Fatigue & dizziness possible.
