4. Therapeutic Uses

• Ovarian carcinoma frontline or salvage treatment, often combined with platinum agents

• Breast carcinoma adjuvant or metastatic therapy, sequential to doxorubicin or with trastuzumab

• Advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma in combination with cisplatin

• AIDS-associated Kaposis sarcoma second-line therapy

5. Safety Profile & Side Effects

Common adverse effects:

• Bone marrow suppression (neutropenia, anemia, thrombocytopenia)

• Peripheral neuropathy (numbness/tingling), fatigue, hair loss

• Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)

• Hypersensitivity reactions despite premedication

Serious risks (rare):

• Severe allergic/anaphylactic reactions

• Cardiovascular effects: bradycardia, conduction abnormalities

• Liver toxicity, extravasation injury

6. Precautions

• Premedication required: corticosteroid, antihistamine, H blocker to prevent hypersensitivity

• Monitoring during therapy: CBC, liver and kidney function tests, cardiac monitoring in susceptible patients

• Avoid in pregnancy or breastfeeding; use reliable contraception during treatment and for at least 6months afterward

• Not recommended for patients under 18 years or with severe hepatic impairment

• Administer only in controlled healthcare settings; do not self-administer

• Avoid driving or alcohol concurrently due to dizziness or sedation risk
