Dacotin 100 mg Injection contains Oxaliplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapy drug. It works by interfering with the DNA replication process in cancer cells, preventing their growth and multiplication. It is primarily used in combination with other anticancer medicines (such as 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin) for the treatment of colorectal cancer.

• Colorectal cancer: Used in combination therapy (FOLFOX regimen) for treatment of advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer.

• Adjuvant therapy: Used after surgical removal of primary tumor in stage III colorectal cancer to reduce recurrence risk.

5. Side Effects

Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, fatigue, mouth sores, peripheral neuropathy (tingling, numbness in hands/feet), altered blood counts (low WBC, RBC, platelets).

Serious:

• Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis, bronchospasm, rash, chest tightness)

• Severe neuropathy affecting daily activities

• Infections due to bone marrow suppression

• Pulmonary toxicity (rare)

• Liver enzyme abnormalities

• To be administered only under the supervision of an oncologist in a hospital/chemotherapy setup.

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to oxaliplatin or other platinum compounds.

• Dose adjustments required in case of kidney impairment or severe neuropathy.

• Avoid use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Blood counts, liver and kidney function should be regularly monitored.

• Caution in patients with history of peripheral neuropathy or myelosuppression.
