Endoxan 50mg Tablet contains Cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent from the oxazaphosphorine group.
It works by interfering with DNA replication and RNA transcription, which stops rapidly dividing cells such as cancer cells and immune cells.

It is prescribed in the treatment of various cancers (breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lymphoma, leukemia) and also in autoimmune diseases (e.g., lupus nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis) due to its immunosuppressive properties.

Common:

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

• Hair loss (alopecia)

• Loss of appetite

• Fatigue, weakness

• Darkened skin or nail changes

Serious / Severe:

• Bone marrow suppression (low WBC, RBC, platelets risk of infection, anemia, bleeding)

• Hemorrhagic cystitis (bladder irritation, blood in urine)

• Secondary cancers (risk increases with long-term use)

• Liver toxicity

• Infertility (men and women)

• Severe allergic reactions (rare)

6. Precautions

• Hydration: Patients should drink plenty of fluids to reduce bladder toxicity.

• Mesna Use: Sometimes prescribed with Mesna to prevent hemorrhagic cystitis.

• Monitoring: Regular CBC (blood counts), liver/kidney function, and urinalysis required.

• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Contraindicated teratogenic and harmful to fetus/infant.

• Fertility: May cause permanent infertility; fertility counseling is advised before therapy.

• Infections: Avoid exposure to infections; live vaccines should be avoided.

• Drug Interactions: Increased toxicity with allopurinol, phenobarbital, and other myelosuppressive drugs.
