2. Product Description

Stpase 1500000 IU Injection contains Streptokinase, an enzyme obtained from beta-hemolytic streptococci. It is a thrombolytic (clot-dissolving) agent that works by converting plasminogen to plasmin, which helps dissolve blood clots. It is commonly used in the emergency management of myocardial infarction (heart attack), pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and arterial thrombosis/embolism.

• Acute myocardial infarction (within 12 hours of symptom onset)

• Pulmonary embolism (massive/life-threatening cases)

5. Side Effects

Common: Fever, chills, low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, injection site reactions, mild bleeding (nose/gums).

Serious:

• Major bleeding (gastrointestinal, intracranial hemorrhage)

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, anaphylaxis, bronchospasm)

• Reperfusion arrhythmias during myocardial infarction treatment

• Hypotension (can be sudden and severe)

• Rare: Stroke, renal impairment

6. Precautions

• Strictly for use in hospital/ICU settings under cardiologist supervision.

• Contraindicated in patients with active internal bleeding, recent stroke, recent major surgery/trauma, uncontrolled hypertension, or history of intracranial hemorrhage.

• Not to be used in patients with recent gastrointestinal bleeding, peptic ulcer, or bleeding disorders.

• Use cautiously in elderly patients and those with renal/hepatic impairment.

• Hypersensitivity may occur in patients previously treated with streptokinase (antibody formation).

• Regular monitoring of coagulation profile and vital signs during and after infusion is mandatory.
