Linospan Tablet

• Hospital-acquired and community-acquired pneumonia

• Complicated skin and soft tissue infections, including diabetic foot infections

• Infections caused by vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) or MRSA-resistant Gram-positive organisms

5. Safety Profile & Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Vomiting, nausea, headache, diarrhea, dizziness

• Bone marrow suppression: decreased red cells, white cells, and platelets (especially with longer duration)

• Skin rash, photosensitivity, altered taste, indigestion

Serious / less common risks:

• Myelosuppressionespecially if treatment >14 days or in renal failure

• Peripheral or optic neuropathy and lactic acidosis with prolonged use

• Serotonin syndrome if taken with MAO inhibitors or SSRIs

• Seizures or convulsions reported rarely

6. Precautions

• Always complete the full course, even if symptoms ease early

• Avoid tyramine-rich foods (e.g. aged cheese, smoked meats, pickled foods, some beers) to prevent hypertension

• Alcohol is unsafe and may exacerbate dizziness or other side effectsCaution in pregnancy and breastfeedingconsult a physician before use

• Use with caution in liver impairment (dose adjustment may be needed)

• Monitor complete blood counts weekly for long durations (>14 days) to detect bone marrow suppression

• Avoid MAOI drugs or serotonergic agents during and within two weeks before therapy to reduce risk of serotonin syndrome
