2. Product Description

Imiquad Cream contains Imiquimod 5%, an immune response modifier that activates the skins innate immunity via TLR7 agonism, leading to cytokine release and targeted elimination of virally infected or abnormal cells. Its FDA-approved for:

  • External genital and perianal warts

  • Actinic keratosis on face or scalp

  • Superficial basal cell carcinoma up to 2cm diameter when surgery is unsuitable

4. Safety Profile & Side Effects

Common adverse effects (at application site):

  • Redness, itching, burning, dryness, flaking, scaling, swelling, crusting, ulceration, excoriation, induration

  • Skin discoloration (hypo/hyperpigmentation)may be permanent in some cases 

Systemic symptoms (rare):

  • Flu-like symptoms (fever, fatigue, chills, muscle pain)

  • Headache, malaise, lymph node swelling 

Rare but serious adverse reactions:

  • Severe local reactions (weeping, ulceration)

  • Allergic contact dermatitis, systemic allergic reactions

  • In rare cases: aseptic meningitis after overuse

5. Precautions

  • Apply only to intact skinavoid eyes, nose, mouth, vagina, anus or open wounds 

  • Avoid occlusive dressings unless prescribed

  • Use sun protection during treatmentskin is photosensitive

  • Discontinue if severe local irritation or systemic symptoms occur (e.g. fever, chills, GI). Consult physician promptly 

  • Not recommended during pregnancy unless essential; consult physician

  • Avoid in children under 12 for genital warts or under 18 for AK/BCC due to limited data

  • Stop application and seek help if skin discoloration developsmay be permanent in rare cases

6. How to Use

  • Apply a thin layer of Imiquad to the affected area in the evening, rubbing gently until absorbed; leave on 610 hours, then wash off with mild soap and water

  • Wash hands before and after application unless the treated area includes the hands

  • Avoid sexual contact while cream is on genital/anal skin (may weaken condoms or diaphragms)

  • Do not use on inflamed or sunburned skin

  • In case of missed dose, resume scheduledo not double up

  • If overdose or severe reaction occurs, seek immediate medical attention
