Gutron 2.5 mg Tablet contains Midodrine Hydrochloride, an antihypotensive agent. It works by constricting blood vessels, thereby increasing blood pressure. It is mainly prescribed for the treatment of orthostatic hypotension (a sudden fall in blood pressure when standing up). It helps reduce symptoms like dizziness, fainting, and weakness caused by low blood pressure.

5. Side Effects

Common: Goosebumps, itching, urinary urgency, chills, tingling of scalp, increased blood pressure while lying down (supine hypertension).

Serious (rare):

• Irregular heartbeat

• Difficulty urinating

• Severe hypertension when lying flat

• Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

6. Precautions

• Should only be used under strict medical supervision with regular BP monitoring.

• Contraindicated in patients with severe heart disease, hypertension, kidney disease, urinary retention, pheochromocytoma, or hyperthyroidism.

• Avoid lying flat immediately after taking the dose (risk of supine hypertension).

• Caution in elderly patients and those on other vasopressors or BP medications.

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by a physician.
