Veltride Tablet contains Dutasteride, a dual 5-alpha reductase enzyme inhibitor. It lowers levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that causes prostate enlargement. Veltride is prescribed for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in men to improve urinary flow, reduce difficulty in urination, and decrease the risk of acute urinary retention or the need for prostate surgery. In some cases, it may also be used off-label for male pattern baldness.

• Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): Shrinks enlarged prostate and eases symptoms like frequent urination, weak stream, and incomplete emptying of bladder.

• Prevents Complications: Reduces risk of acute urinary retention and need for prostate surgery.

• Hair Loss (off-label): Sometimes prescribed to slow progression of androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness).

Common: Erectile dysfunction, reduced libido, ejaculation disorders, breast tenderness or enlargement.

Serious (rare):

• Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

• Depression or mood changes

• Possible increased risk of aggressive prostate cancer (still under study)

• Not for use in women or children (may cause birth defects if exposed during pregnancy).

• Blood donation should be avoided during treatment and up to 6 months after stopping.

• Regular PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) monitoring is advised.
