Dabigat 150 Capsule contains Dabigatran Etexilate, a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC). It works by inhibiting thrombin (Factor IIa), an enzyme essential for blood clot formation. This reduces the risk of stroke, systemic embolism, and clot formation in patients with certain cardiovascular conditions.

• Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF).

• Treatment and secondary prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

5. Side Effects

Common: Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, bleeding gums, easy bruising.

Serious:

• Major bleeding (gastrointestinal bleeding, intracranial hemorrhage)

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)

• Anemia

• Thrombocytopenia (low platelet count)

6. Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with active pathological bleeding or severe renal impairment.

• Dose adjustment needed in renal dysfunction and elderly patients.

• Should not be used in patients with mechanical prosthetic heart valves.

• Periodic monitoring of renal function is recommended.
