I Nem 500 mg/500 mg Injection contains a fixed-dose combination of Imipenem and Cilastatin. Imipenem is a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Cilastatin is included to prevent the breakdown of Imipenem in the kidneys, thereby enhancing its effectiveness. It is used in the treatment of severe bacterial infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms.

Serious:

• Seizures (higher risk in patients with CNS disorders or renal impairment)

• Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea

• Liver enzyme elevation, kidney function impairment

• Low blood cell counts (rare)

• Use only under strict medical supervision in a hospital setting.

• Contraindicated in patients with history of severe hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins, carbapenems).
