2. Product Description

Rabivax-S is a purified Vero cell rabies vaccine (PVRV).
It contains inactivated rabies virus prepared in Vero cells and is used for both pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis against rabies.

The vaccine stimulates the body to produce neutralizing antibodies, offering protection against rabies infection, which is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.

• Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP):

  • For individuals bitten/scratched by rabid or suspected rabid animals.

  • Used along with rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) in category III exposures.

• Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP):

  • For veterinarians, animal handlers, lab workers, and travelers to rabies-endemic areas.

Common:

• Pain, redness, or swelling at injection site

• Fever, headache

• Fatigue, malaise

• Muscle pain

Rare but Serious:

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)

• Anaphylaxis (extremely rare)

• Neurological reactions (very rare, transient)

• Do not administer intravenously. Only intramuscular or intradermal routes should be used.

• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Generally considered safe; benefits outweigh risks in case of exposure.
